For Example - A 32 year-old male is a new full-time employee, (employed by a participating employer). He wishes to take out $400,000 Death & TPD (8 units of cover) and $800 per week Income Protection Insurance (8 units of cover).
His premiums would be calculated as follows:
Death & TPD premium - $3.96 + (6 X $0.53) = $7.14 per week
Income Protection premium - $1.61 + (5 X $0.27) = $2.96 per week
Therefore the total premium is - ($7.14 + $2.96) X 52 = $525.20 per year
